Have you ever noticed the first three letters in the word diet? Sensible if you think about it – especially if you suffer from hunger while attempting to win the battle of the bulge.
Carrying excess body-fat can precipitate many illnesses such as hypertension (high blood pressure) or an increase in the risk of heart disease and stroke. Additionally, it can increase the likelihood of diabetes in individuals having a genetic predisposition. Extra body-fat can also increase the potency of respiratory problems, some cancers and even complicate pregnancy.
The fact is we are all unique individuals, each having a unique genetic blueprint. We all vary in age, shape, size, height, weight, age, fitness level, sex, lean muscle tissue, body fat percentage, our rate of metabolism and so on. With this in mind, why is it that we continue to believe what works for the proverbial Mrs. Jones will automatically work for us?
Do you find yourself always attempting to lose weight desperately and wanting to change your body? Do you spend hours in the gym? Do you restrict your caloric intake to the point of starving yourself? Have you tried every commercial weight loss program out there? If you’re reading this, chances are you’ve exhausted many alternatives.
Truth be told, I was never a believer in the conventional method of weight loss, as it simply didn’t work for me. The world of weight loss, nutrition and (medical) exercise is always changing; there will always be another diet/exercise routine, new theories, case studies and ongoing research to be conducted.
If your weight loss program is not working it is because conventional diets are faulty in their design. They insist you conform to their methods or require you to eat prepackaged foods.
Do you find that you’re always reaching a plateau? It befalls professional athletes and can easily pose an issue to you. The only way to push beyond your plateau is to understand how your body works.
Simply put, there is no universal “cure-all” diet. The only successful weight loss/management program is the one designed specifically for YOU. This is perhaps the most underrated, yet most important rule to be followed in the battle of weight loss.

This blog is dedicated to all the wonderful individuals that I have had the pleasure of working with over the years, you know who you are. I am so grateful for your participation in the many weight loss case studies I supervised over several years. You were always willing to invest your time and energy (no pun intended) without giving it a second thought. Research is the only key that determines whether a theory is actually based on truth or fiction – the best way to learn is putting the research to the test; I couldn’t have done it without you.
